OFW Talks With Anthony Darko

One Fall Wrestling has been fortunate enough to be granted an interview with NSPW Tag and TCW Heavyweight Champion Anthony Darko. It has been a successful and controversial year for the master of the Eternal Darko and it looks like 2012 will be even more so.

OFW – I have to open with an obvious question. Duncan Marshall has been messing with you all year long, why does he hate you so much?

AD – I think Duncan Marshall (who we’ll refer to as Crappy Roddy Piper) hates us cause Jay and I are doing things our way. He wanted to run a wrestling company and came in with no experience and thought he would tell me and Jay Moore what to do? Thats not how it works. We’ve made our own rules since TCW started and we have been very successful at it. That drives Crappy Roddy Piper crazy. He thinks TCW is his, but everyone knows it belongs to us.

OFW – You’ve had quite a successful year, TCW Heavyweight Champion as well as winning the NSPW Tag Team gold as one half of the Piss Beaters with Jake O’Reilly. Do you expect more of the same in 2012?

AD – I do expect more of the same, a lot more. 2011 was really my best year in pro wrestling, not just with winning titles, but I was very proud of a slew of matches I had. Winning the TCW title was great and I have had a great run there and winning the Neo tag titles with Jake was awesome. I look at that roster and think to myself wow, we’re the champs out of all these guys? We earned it though, you’ll never meet 2 guys more determined than the Piss Beaters.

OFW – We’ve seen you take some extremely nasty moves including a tombstone piledriver on the ring apron from Josh Alexander. What makes people want to hurt you like that?

AD – Thats funny, I don’t remember that at all…..LOL. I just have a way of getting under peoples skin. I am not afraid to speak my mind and a lot of people don’t like that. The other thing is I think people know that they better pull out something crazy like that before I do.

OFW – We know Eddie Guerrero was an influence, do you live by the Lie, Cheat & Steal attitude?

AD – Eddie was my inspiration in life and not a day goes by I don’t think about him. He was just so good at every different elemenrt of wrestling and I would say the most well rounded performer of all time. His life story always spoke to me in the sense that no matter how bad things get for you, you can come back from it. I took his death harder than members of my own family. And yeah I do live by the lie, cheat and stealattitude, but at least I am honest about it!

OFW – In January you’ll be defending your TCW title agains “The Hacker” Scotty O’Shea. His keyboard has been involved in more than a few of your matches this year. Are you looking for some retribution? A series of Eternal Darko’s perhaps?

AD – ScottyO’Shea and I have had this issue for a long time. It was actually last January we met for the first time also at TCW. What I respect about O’Shea is that in the ring he is a competitor. He can do anything and he can come at you from anywhere. My matches with him really brought out the best in me and I think in him as well. We are both very driven and in the ring we clicked. Now the difference between us is that well he is shaking hands with the fans and posing for pictures and taping up his stupid glasses, I am taping up my fists getting ready to kick someones ass. I am the TCW champion, and I take it very seriously and I’ll do anything to keep that title. Scotty thinks I am gonna lose my title to a computer nerd ? Not happening. This ain’t World of Warcraft, its professional wrestling. And in a wrestling match Scotty O’Shea can’t beat Anthony Darko.

OFW – Speaking of the Eternal Darko, how did you come up with that move and is there anyone you’d love to give it to?

AD – I kinda adopted the move from a Mexican wrestler after talking about it with Tornado. It was a perfect fit for me and I think the missing piece of the Darko puzzle. There are a ton of people I’d like to give it to. Basically everyone you can name. Plus a lot of people have already taken it cause as we said before I have had a good year. I will say I hope I end up in the ring soon against Bearded Dragon Scotty Turner. I’ll beat him with it, but I think it’d be a good match.

OFW – Will we see the Piss Beaters make an impact all over Ontario in 2012?

AD – I don’t want to say too much on that front as actions will speak louder than words but Piss Beaters will definitely take over Ontario in 2012. Tag team wrestling has been treated like the red headed step child for too long and we are here to fix that. We are the best tag team in the world, don’t believe it? Keep watching.

OFW – Your manager, Infamous Jay Moore, really caused some turmoil at TCW’s All Out War when he dropped you with O’Shea’s keyboard by mistake. Has that been settled between you or do you hold him responsible for making you look like Ric Flair after a War Games match?

AD – I hold nothing against Jay. I had a loose grip on Crappy Roddy cause I thought he was dead. Old bastard managed to get free and I paid for it. My mistake. Really it just shows how tough my manager is being able to crack my head open. I have a really hard head. So no, no ill will between Jay Moore and I. We are just looking forward to dominating all of pro wrestling in the coming year.
